Global Kitchen Journal welcomes thoughtful pitches about food culture, culinary history, ingredients, kitchen craft and the social life of meals. We are interested in clear questions and well-defined subjects, not sweeping claims about what a whole culture eats.
What to pitch
Propose an evergreen article with a distinct central idea, a clear reader benefit and a credible route to explaining it. Useful pitches might compare two preparations, unpack a kitchen choice, trace the changing history of a food practice, or explain how context changes the meaning of a dish.
What makes a strong proposal
Tell us the working title, the question the piece will answer, why it matters to curious readers and the main points you would cover. Note relevant sources or areas of uncertainty, and explain how you will handle cultural differences without treating a single account as universal.
How to send it
Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Please pitch the idea rather than submitting a finished article unless we have requested one. A proposal is not a promise of publication.
Food makes more sense in context
A dish is never just a list of ingredients. Place, history, habit and access all shape what reaches the table.
